  • VMware Carbon Black Workload for AWS combines next-generation antivirus (NGAV) with workload hardening and fundamental vulnerability assessment to evaluate attacker behavior.
  • VMware Carbon Black Workload for AWS allows security teams to see transient workloads and provides authoritative context to help AWS customers secure modern applications.

VMware, Inc. announced the launch of the VMware Carbon Black Workload for Amazon Web Services (AWS). It is a new product that offers superior protection and is designed to protect classic and modern workloads. Using a single unified console that integrates into current infrastructure, security and Information Technology (IT) teams can decrease attack surfaces, reinforce security postures, and achieve a uniform and unified visibility for workloads running on AWS, VMware Cloud, and on-premises.

“Security and IT teams lack visibility and control in highly dynamic and distributed environments,” said Jason Rolleston, vice president of product management and co-general manager for VMware’s Security Business Unit. “VMware Carbon Black Workload for AWS improves collaboration between these teams via a single consolidated platform for all workloads, regardless of where they’re running, helping defenders see and stop more threats. This real-time visibility into workloads helps prevent attacks on your most valuable assets and provides AWS customers with a finite surface area to protect.”

VMware Carbon Black Workload for AWS allows security teams to see transient workloads and provides authoritative context to help AWS customers secure modern applications. The attack surface is further reduced by automatic vulnerability collecting and listing, hardening workloads, and CI/CD packages for sensor deployment that further streamline agent lifecycle management. Furthermore, by onboarding their AWS account, AWS clients can also get more thorough, comprehensive, and in-depth visibility into the workloads that go beyond the first deployment of the VMware Carbon Black Workload sensor.

VMware Carbon Black Workload for AWS combines workload hardening and fundamental vulnerability assessment with next-generation antivirus (NGAV) to evaluate the attacker’s behavior patterns over time and thwart never-before-seen attacks. To prevent hunting for the same threat again, AWS customers can use enterprise threat hunting for workloads that integrate behavioral Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR). This information goes into VMware Contexa, a full-fidelity threat intelligence cloud that narrows the gap between attackers and defenders and makes workloads more visible, in control, and capable of anomaly detection.

  • This extended partnership will allow businesses to become more agile to gain a competitive edge in the industry.

Google Cloud and VMware, Inc. are deepening their partnership to assist clients in fastening app modernization and cloud transformation. With this, customers will now be able to use the VMware Cloud Universal program to enjoy the benefits of Google Cloud VMware Engine.

With the expansion of this partnership, enterprise clients of both firms will get better financial flexibility, options, and the ability to fasten their cloud migrations. They will also be able to modernize their enterprise applications in Google Cloud.

Google Cloud VMware Engine allows clients to transfer VMware applications to the cloud without changes to the application, tools, or workflow.

The VMware Cloud Verified and native Google Cloud service deliver off-the-shelf cloud infrastructure for business-critical vSphere workloads with security, resource optimization, manageability, and operational support integrated into the core service module.

Clients can immediately create hybrid applications in real-time once they are on the cloud, which allows them to be more agile. Moreover, the clients get secure access to Google services like BigQuery and cloud operations and can extend their current disaster recovery, backup, and storage services.

VMware Cloud Universal is a malleable purchasing and consumable module for accomplishing multi-cloud and digital transformation strategies. Now that Google Cloud VMware Engine is a part of the VMware Cloud Universal program, VMware and its partners will be able to deliver Google Cloud VMware Engine and other VMware cross-cloud services to allow their clients accomplish the digital transformation initiatives based on their deadlines with lower costs and risks.

There are multiple clients across industries like retail, telco, and manufacturing that use Google Cloud VMware Engine to modernize and fasten the migration of business-critical workloads to Google Cloud.

Experts’ view:

“Our partnership with VMware makes it very easy for businesses to migrate VMware-based applications to Google Cloud’s trusted and highly performant infrastructure. This announcement brings VMware and Google Cloud closer together and represents a significant step forward in our joint commitment to support businesses’ digital transformations with Google Cloud VMware Engine,” said Kevin Ichhpurani, Corporate vice president, the global ecosystem at Google Cloud.
